In this special masterclass, KKA Guest Director Naoko Yamada shares insights into her creative process, artistic influences and her approach to storytelling through animation. Featuring film clips, discussion and audience engagement, with translation throughout.

Known for her empathetic storytelling in ‘The Colours Within’ and ‘A Silent Voice’, she has brought a fresh, contemporary perspective to animated features in Japan. Yamada has built an international reputation through both television series and feature films. Her work explores connection, identity and human relationships with a warmth and emotional depth that has made her one of the most admired directors working in animation today.

An experienced speaker who has presented at major international events including Annecy and the New York Film Festival, Yamada brings a genuine passion for connecting with audiences.
