Amandine Cayla

Amandine Cayla is an artist who lives between Ireland, where she works as a background designer in animated tv shows and films, and the South of France, where she is originally from. She is particularly known in the world of animation for her works on the series Nate is Late and Rick and Morty. A laureate of the French “Salon des Artistes ”, she has also received the Grand Prize at the National Graphic Design Competition in Reims.

Her work combines vibrant colors and stylized shapes to evoke profound emotions within the viewer. She primarily seeks to capture light and enhances the palette of a subject by playing with color saturation and temperature. She works mainly with gouache on paper and wood as they allow her to work spontaniously on location. For her creations, Amandine draws inspiration primarily from landscapes and nature, which she paints “en plein air” with her easel. She strives to convey the emotion and feeling of a place, allowing the viewer to travel there with her. Light and colors are ever changing and thus her paintings are a unique keepsake: a physical testament of a time and a place in the artist’s journey.
